About SD Drive Life

Your guide to driving, road safety, and auto life in San Diego County.

We're a small team of San Diego residents who love cars and know our city's roads inside and out. We started this blog to share everything we've learned about driving in San Diego — from navigating the I-5 during rush hour to knowing what to do when your car breaks down at midnight on the I-8 east of Alpine.

Some of us have been driving here since the 405 was a different freeway. Others moved to the county for work and got hooked on the place. All of us care about helping fellow drivers — locals, transplants, military families, students — get around the city safely and confidently.

What we cover

SD Drive Life publishes articles in six broad areas: Highways & Roads, Safety & Emergency, Local Guides, Car Tips, Seasonal driving, and local auto News. Every article is written for a specific San Diego context — real exits, real neighborhoods, real corridors, real weather. No generic "5 driving tips" filler.

Editorial independence

We're not affiliated with any towing company, auto shop, or service provider. When we recommend a business in an article, it's because we've researched them and believe they provide great service to San Diego drivers. We may occasionally link to local companies in the context of an article topic — for example, mentioning a reliable towing service in an article about freeway breakdowns. These mentions are editorial recommendations, not paid placements.

If you spot something inaccurate or want to suggest a topic, the door's open. This blog gets better when locals tell us what we got wrong.
